I love bringing my polaroid camera along to celebrations, and 2016 has already been full of such occasions. Here are a few snapshots from New Year's and my birthday. I hope you all have had a relaxing weekend! (Also if you find yourself in St. Louis and in the mood for a fancy drink head on over to Olio!)
Thoughts For A New Year
I hesitate to write down a true list of resolutions for 2015, but I have been pondering what I hope to accomplish in 2015. Here are a few thoughts and goals:
1. Letters Are Lovely
This year I hope to devote more time to blogging! In 2014 I often didn't have the time to devote to this space what I would have liked. I truly believe "Letters Are Lovely" not only sums up my love for lettering, but also encompasses the essence of a blog in general. Letters themselves make up words in songs, books, and what I write. This new name will hopefully give more focus to my blogging as I continue to share snapshots of what I am working on and things that inspire me.
2. Fitness
Those who know me well know that I am not necessarily athletic, and throughout college I rarely spent time working out. Before college, especially in high school, I spent countless hours in dance classes. I have found that this is the sort of structure I need to be active, so I recently have started going to Fusion Fitness in Kansas City. While at this point I am confident I might possibly be one of the least-athletic people there, this is exactly the motivation I need to be more active.
3. Relaxing
I have recently noticed that when I should be relaxing I am still focusing on my to-do list. In 2015 I want to place a greater importance on spending my free time enjoying the company of those around me and not thinking about everything I could be working on.
Hopefully writing these things down will help these thoughts to be important not only in January, but the whole year through!
2014 Reflection
I have to admit this post was harder to put together than I expected, 2014 was BUSY! I think the main reason this year is so hard to reflect upon is because I went through so many major changes within such a short period of time. I graduated from college, got engaged, adopted a kitten, and started my career. I was lucky enough to travel to Colorado, Spain, and San Francisco. These are all events which could merit a full paragraph so I will keep things simple. Looking back at 2014 helped me to realize just how lucky I am to be surrounded by such wonderful friends and family. These few pictures barely begin to summarize everything that happened in 2014, but they are some of my favorites.
I can't wait to see what 2015 will bring!
2013 Moments
While we are already well into January, I decided to take a look back at my travels, creative experiences, and time with friends and family throughout 2013. This past year I had opportunity to experience two different internships with Ampersand Design Studio and Trozzolo Communications Group. With only one semester of college left ahead of me, in 2013 I was able to take studio classes I loved. This allowed me to spend time in the letterpress lab, dive into hand lettering and become a much more experienced book binder. One of my proudest crafting moments was creating my Fraser Hall Halloween costume. Lawrence has truly become my second home over the past few years, and this year I loved continuing to explore my college town and spend time with great friends and inspiring classmates. This was also a great year for traveling: I spent time skiing, went on a cruise and took a senior trip to Las Vegas. I can't wait to see what 2014 will bring!
