Last Day in Dubrovnik

Day 20 (June 17, 2022) was our last full day of the trip! Sophie, Alex, Dale & I had to get up early to pack up and switch Airbnbs but were able to spend a few more hours at the pool before dragging all our bags into the city walls to our last place. After checking in, we headed to a pizzeria for lunch and then decided to wander around town for some last minute shopping and exploring. We made a stop at the 700-year-old apothecary/pharmacy hidden inside a 14th-century Franciscan monastery and then were honestly pretty exhausted and took a break at a cafe. After relaxing for a bit, we decided to walk up to the cliffside bar and take in the views.

That night we dressed up for dinner and decided on a place just off the wall on the ocean side of town. We celebrated with one amazing final dinner (I had delicious shrimp and zucchini risotto) and then we took in the sunset with one last gelato! Our grand finale of the trip was a scavenger hunt through town before bed (it’s harder to find a pigeon after dark than you would think!).The four of us made so many wonderful memories in Croatia and I’m already looking forward to the next time we are able to travel together. Thanks for following along our time in Europe!

Back to Split

Day 16 arrived and we spent a few hours in the morning relaxing by the pool at our amazing Airbnb. We were all very sad to leave! We took the ferry back across to Split and checked into our next place. From there we wandered around town and had a great dinner near the water complete with spaghetti carbonara. Next we took a closer look at the Palace of Diocletian, which is an ancient Roman palace built between 295 and 305 CE by the Emperor Diocletian and was where he lived in is retirement. Our last stop of the day was finding gelato before walking back to our Airbnb before our drive to Mostar the next morning!

Island of Brac

Day 13 began with Alex heading to the airport in Split to pick up a new rental car (minus one spare tire). Once we were settled in with the new car, we loaded up and headed to catch the ferry to Brac. We were able to drive straight onto the ferry so that we could have our car on the island! After arriving, we made the short drive to Mirca to check into our BEAUTIFUL Airbnb. Our host showed us around the house and made some suggestions for the area, and then we decided to walk around town and to the beach. We picked up sandwich food at the grocery and ate looking out at the ocean before driving to Milna (a nearby town) to look around. Our car did get stuck on one of the very narrow roads and once escaping we were ready to relax by the pool!

For dinner, Sophie & Alex and Dale and I made the short drive to the Grill Garden restaurant. Our dinner was amazing, and the sunset views were even better! The restaurant is located in the center of an olive grove so we enjoyed taking pictures before heading back to the house to enjoy the end of the sunset on our poolside deck.

Hello, Santa Fe!

Right after Easter lunch my family packed up and headed to Santa Fe, New Mexcio! Our road trip began with a quick stop in Hutchinson, Kansas to see my Grammy and Pop’s childhood homes and then the next morning we made our way to our Airbnb outside of Santa Fe. Our trip was filled with good food, hiking & lots of time relaxing at the house. Here are a few snapshots from our Airbnb to kickoff the trip!

Sister Staycation!

This last weekend my sisters (plus Dale and Alex) rented an Airbnb literally down the street from our house so that we could have a day at the pool. With so many vacations and plans cancelled this summer it was the perfect 24 hour staycation and we also got to celebrate that Grace and I will be Maid/Matron of Honors at Sophie’s wedding next June! I hope you all have found some time to relax and enjoy this summer, too!

June Around The Web

Recapping the month these days feels so different. With so much happening there is a lot, and many necessary things, to take in and learn and grow from. I’ve been reading a lot, participating in a listening series on racism in Kansas City put on by the KC Chamber, and have still been working from home during the pandemic. Growth is happening all around us, and hopefully within ourselves too, but it’s hard and some days I really do miss my normal routine. Also at the same time life continues on. This month we celebrated my sister Grace’s 16th birthday and my sister Sophie got engaged! Time is moving so fast and so slow, in many ways I can’t believe we are already headed into July but here are a few things that caught my eye this month:

Stay safe, friends!
