Almost every year my family spends The Fourth at our lake house enjoying homemade ice cream, good food, and fireworks! This year we are lucky enough to be carrying on the tradition (I missed out last year because I was in Italy with Sophie), and I can't wait! In anticipation I gathered some of my favorite Fourth of July inspiration. (I couldn't help but include two ideas from Think.Make.Share. and The House that Lars Made, I couldn't choose just one!) I hope you find a little inspiration for your celebration this year. Enjoy!
May Around The Web
May is one of my favorite months of the year, and my allergies haven't even been quite as terrible as normal! This month I traveled to Chicago for a work event, tried a Soul Cycle class, attended Hallmark's Creative Leadership Symposium (and a Gemma O'Brien Meet & Greet!), spent Mother's Day in KC (complete with a delicious lunch and the Symphony Designers' Showhouse), watched my youngest sister, Grace, graduate from sixth grade, participated in a piñata making workshop for one of #My5Days, marbled paper with my team at work, and continued working on Mother's Day 2018 cards!
Looking back, this month was filled with some pretty special opportunities and lots of making. One of my favorite parts of these posts is thinking back on what I accomplished during the last month, and of course seeing what inspired me. I have been constantly impressed by Nick Misani's Fauxsaics. They are stunning! If you haven't already seen them be sure to take a look. I noticed on Instagram he might be teaching a class to share his process, which would definitely be something I would need to sign up for. Here are some of my other favorite finds this May:
I love this faux-flower DIY from Sugar & Cloth!
These are the perfect shorts to celebrate warmer weather.
An interesting read, good thoughts for business owners and those working corporate jobs.
I would love to try making these smoothies, they are so pretty!
A great guide to pressing flowers, I also want to get Beci Orpin's new book, Sunshine Spaces.
I don't need these pineapple earrings, but they sure are cute!
Create*Cultivate in New York looked amazing, and these thoughts on Instagram are worth reading.
New balloons from Studio DIY!
I've been dreaming about an outdoor space at our next place, and I loved Emily's patio.
AND Pippa got married this month!
Until next month, happy reading!
March Around The Web
I have decided that Spring is my favorite season. Every year around this time I feel so refreshed, despite the chaotic nature of this month which was filled with travel, family events, and a busy season at work. I think just being able to get outside more often really improves my mood, and all the sunny weather in New Orleans during our trip was especially nice. I also LOVE all the flowers that begin to peek out at the start of Spring. Coco Kelley's Romantic Floral Tutorial caught my attention this month — I adore the moodiness and how it perfectly captures the emotion of this season. Here are a few other favorites from the web this March:
I loved seeing Ken Sheldon's beautiful illustrations for Think.Make.Share. available on Designlovefest!
Such a simple DIY that I'm dying to try.
I'm often inspired by posts on Design Sponge, and these quotes were no exception.
This bow guide is so charming.
I finally got around to trying out this Roasted Chickpea recipe this week, it was delicious!
While I am loving my Productivity Planner, May Designs' new Folios have me considering ordering a few of their notebooks...
Waiting for an occasion to make this macaroon cake.
Dale and I are starting to ponder a Europe trip after he finishes school, Lisbon is high on my list!
Does anyone sleep on a silk pillowcase? It seems so luxurious (and great for your skin!).
Last weekend I saw Disney's new Beauty & The Beast movie and it was visually stunning. I am curious about the process of designing the sets and costumes.
Last, but not least, I just ordered a faux-collar from a talented Hallmarker, Cece. I choose the Peach Fern pattern.
Happy Spring, and enjoy your weekend!
Heart Day Inspiration
January Around The Web
Happy Monday, friends! This month has been tough. After returning from Chile I spent several weeks dealing with health issues and a chaotic time of year at work — alongside the general chaotic nature of current political events. That said, I'm very grateful to be feeling much better now. This month has given me a renewed sense of energy to take care of myself. A January highlight has been seeing many of the Valentine's Day cards I created for Hallmark in stores. Work chaos sometimes leads to wonderful opportunities and I think that this is definitely one of those times. I'm really excited to see how the work I am creating now develops. It's always motivating to see cards come to life on shelf. Now for a few favorites around the web:
I found Wit & Delight's new studio space to be super inspiring. I'm very jealous of those in Minneapolis who will have the opportunity to use it!
This month I saw La La Land (I know, so did everyone), but I loved Jimmy Fallon's Golden Globes Opening Number based off the opening scene in the movie almost as much as the movie itself.
These photos stopped me in my tracks, I'm a big fan of Kaley From Kansas' photography, and her beautiful work this month for 100 Layer Cake.
Keeping this DIY in mind for if/when I have a home studio someday!
Loving Studio DIY's new balloon shop! I have my heart set on the Sparkle Emoji Ballons
New to me Ceramics inspiration
Some images from the Women's March
Creative globe painting ideas from Think.Make.Share.
I am constantly seeing Geronimo Balloons installations on Instagram and I enjoyed learning more about her in this interview.
This Queen of Jet Lags post has me adding Amsterdam to my travel wish list.
While I'm late to the party, this month I tried this Golden Milk recipe.
